House Bill 05-1057

HB05-1057 directs the Colorado Commission on Higher Education to provide families of 8th grade students enrolled in public schools with the following information:
  • Description of the Higher Education Admission Requirements (HEAR)
  • Availability of college prep/college level courses
  • Explanation of Colorado's financial aid resources
  • Explanation of the College Opportunity Fund stipend
The statute also requires school districts to notify families of 8th grade students which high school courses meet the HEAR. Additionally, the statute provides for the creation of a statewide pre-collegiate database.

The 8th Grade Letter was mailed to families in April 2007. English and Spanish are available.
